Glendair is located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley up against the Allegheny Mountains that ring the west border of the Valley. We are small kennel, focusing primarily on performance. All my dogs are trained for search and rescue (SAR) first, then for Hunt Tests and Obedience. It all started with Ben, a Labrador off the streets of my home town, when I was looking for my first SAR dog. He was not the greatest SAR dog, but he was kind, patient and tolerant of my novice training mistakes. He allowed me to make mistakes that I could learn from which made my next SAR dog better.

As a SAR dog handler, I have been deployed locally, regionally, nationally (New Orleans after Katrina) and internationally, to South America. I am the training director for my search team, Blue and Gray SAR Dogs, based in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I compete occasionally in the show ring, but I love the excitement  of training a dog for obedience and Hunt Tests. I’ve competed and titled dogs in AKC Obedience up to the Utility Dog Level and competed Hunt Tests up to Senior Hunter level.

I breed only occasionally. My goal is to produce healthy, active dogs with the typical Labrador temperament. All dogs used in the breeding program have health certifications thorough OFA for hips and elbows, hearts cleared via echo, eyes checked yearly, and are DNA tested for Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
